Is it possible to control the newest revision of apple tv with your iphone? I am just wondering if I can turn up and down the volume and change songs like I do now with the remote app which is fantastic. Thanks

When you say "like I do now", does that mean you currently have an ATV1?

The remote App works with Apple TV 2. The only thing you can't do is change the volume, as the ATV2 hasn't got a volume control.

Right, sorry, I was forgetting the remote controls iTunes as well (odd as I use it mostly for that).

Anyway, the answer is still the same. It works except for the volume control.

Actually, thinking about it, you probably can control the volume by selecting the iTunes host and using airplay. I think you can control volume if you use the multiple speakers option.

Edit - I see you are talking about selling your Mini. You do have another machine to run iTunes on I assume?

Edit again - Just seen from your tagline you have a MacBook. That's fine then.

Hmm. Sounds a little complicated. Maybe I can figure it out when it gets here after I play around with it.

I does sound complicated, and the Apple remote can take a bit of getting used to at first with the Apple TV, as you have to select the device to play on and then the library to play, plus Airplay is an option if you are controlling iTunes on a computer.

Like most things, after a little while it all becomes second nature.

I will also have to get my harmony remote setup. Are there any good guides on how to fine tune a harmony remote with apple tv?

There is a guide at the top of this forum index.

I don't have a harmony, so can't say whether the guide is good or not.
