I have some lights set up through Lutron. When using the lutron app either at my house or away over internet I’m able to control them. I’m also able to use the home app on my phone to control the lights on my WiFi network. However, I can’t control the lights via the home app over the internet. It just doesn’t connect. What do I need to do make this work?

Thanks.

Nothing. I just read up on it and an article indicated that you need to leave an iOS device on at the house all the time, like an AppleTV or an iPad; is this correct?

Thanks.

correct you must have a hub,
it's used to relay everything, plus if you have bluetooth devices, it's used to communicate with those.

you'll need one of
an Apple TV 4 or 4k (although I think some of the 3rd gen will work)
an iPad on latest iOS
a home pod

for the homepod and appleTV, there are no settings, by signing in to apple, your device is a hub. Theres no way to turn it off
for the iPad, there is a setting to toggle the hub function.

1. I have more than 1 AppleTV; does it matter which one I setup to use? Living room, den, etc.?
2. What happens when the AppleTV goes to sleep? Does it wakeup as needed automatically when using Homekit away from the house?

Thanks.
