I have a M1Pro Mac with studio display and powerful windows PC in the next room. I would like to edit photos with windows software but on my Mac with the Studio DIsplay. how can I do this? Thanks

Check out Parsec! I've been using it for years to access my Desktop PC from a Mac and it's as close to perfect as I can find. Very useful on the free tier, but on the premium it supports 4:4:4 color and high resolution with low-latency and even drawing tablets. https://parsec.app/

I installed it but I do notice a little lag. thanks

A KVM switch might work if you want a hard wired option, but cord length might be an issue. Alternatively just find some Mac software to edit with, maybe set up file-sharing between the two computers if you need it. Any of that is probably better than dealing with awful lag while editing.

I use Microsoft Remote Desktop 8 hours per day. I do all my work on Windows while sitting at my Mac. It's pretty flawless with no noticeable lag (unless I'm playing a video game). But, the communication is using wired ethernet; I can't really comment on how it would be with a less than perfect wireless setup.

Years ago I used to use that same software to access a remote desktop on Microsoft Azure. I don't recall there being any issue, but I'm sure it wasn't as snappy.

One thing I‘d keep in mind when editing photos remotely is color accuracy. The video codec used for remote work might only be 8 bit and not support embedded color profiles.

How could I control Mac on windows PC instead?

Definitely try Jump Desktop. For the direction you want, it's a completely free solution. You install "Jump Desktop Connect" on your Mac. Then you install "Jump Desktop" on Windows.

The only thing I purchased is Jump Desktop for Mac. That allows me to connect from my Mac to Windows. I don't know why they charge for that and not for everything else.
