Is there anyway anyone knows how I can convert a .jpg image of an Ecel document to either that Excel format or Numbers format free on the web or in a MBP. would be glad of any ideas.
 
I'd imagine you'd need some OCR software like ReadIris, although I believe that would only export to editable PDF or Word doc rather than Excel. Hope this suggestion might inspire a few other ideas.

I doubt it a jpeg is just a picture and so will give no information of the calculations in an excel sheet so it would be a useless app with literally no real world application.
 
IF the document in question isn't too large, it might just be easier to open a new Excel worksheet, and type the numbers in "by hand" -- particularly if there are "obvious formulas" involved...
