ffmpegx is good, but it can be tricky to install for non-savvy users and is not user friendly.

Are you referring to ffmpeg or ffmpegX?
ffmpegX is fairly straightforward, just follow the instructions.
ffmpeg is a far too difficult for the "non-savvy" user.
