iPod Convert Fat32 iPod to HFS?

I'm planning on getting a Mac, but my iPod is windows formatted, i know that Mac iTunes works with Fat32 ipods, so i can transfer my purchases over, but I also understand that i cannot update my fat32 ipod on a mac, so i can transfer my purchases on the mac itunes, but how do i convert my iPod to HFS Mac format so I can update on a Mac?

Restore the iPod from iTunes on the Mac. Unfortunately this will erase everything on the iPod though.

What if i use itunes on the mac to transfer my purchases BEFORE restoring the ipod with the mac?

That's a good idea. However, your iPod will still be erased. Make sure your Mac has a copy of everything you want on it. 🙂
