Did anyone try www.arrowbit.com? PstServer has a different approach, as it integrates an IMAP server with pst files, although they also have a conversion tool. Both run on the Mac, not Windows.

If you are planning on exporting the files and then forget about them, I would suggest going with their cheaper conversion tool, otherwise you would be wasting your money. If, however, you plan on using pst files that continue to be updated, the server looks like a good option.

You can spend hours and hours finding a solution, or you can go to the link above and spend $10 and get it down within minutes. I wasted way too much time trying to save $10, then went with this little piece of software. Should have done that in the first place. Worked GREAT!

Do forgive my slowness here I'm both new to this forum and new to my iMac.

My challenge is how to import my contacts (pst format) from my previous Microsoft outlook. I do not have access to my old PC it died. I have files backed up on an external drive including my mail files and contacts in Outlook. My Mac wont open this files they are "greyed out" on the Mac when i view the external drive.

The $10 programme you recommend does it really enable my Mac to import these pst files?

Please keep any replies in a simple format I am not the most literate when it comes to computers and even more so to this Mac thingy!

Hi jotadude, if your PC died, you can use PstExporter which will run on the Mac (you don't need the PC to make it work). You can import contacts and messages.

For a visual explanation on exporting contacts, check this video:

Good luck!

Core 500

thanks for the post you put up. I have looked at the trial version but still no luck with my .pst files. My Mac can find all the files on my external hard drive along with the .pst files I want. The problem is the .pst files are "greyed" out and my Mac will not let me select these files to use with the pst importer. Clearly I'm doing something wrong or missing something

This may be a long shot, but are the PST files set as read-only? I remember from working with them years ago that you had to make sure they were writeable to access them.

I have no idea, I just had my external hard drive running and all folders, mail, etc etc was copied to the external drive weekly using Karen's Replicator a great free piece of software but i've no idea if the files were read only or if there would be any reason for them to be read only

emailchemy works

I have had the same problems described here and can report that emailchemy does work.

Sorry to say that I was cynical about posters recommending emailchemy - it seemed expensive and I get suspicious. Apologies to those I doubted.

The clever people over there created a demo that allows you to convert all your old emails (I had PST files dating back to 1998! - albeit more recently converted to Outlook 2001) and prove the software's worth. The reason you end up paying is because the demo blocks the send/receiver names and subject title. I have tested this and it has worked for 4 out of 5 PST files. Why not the fifth I don't know but will play around with the full version and see if I can crack the issue.

After years of scrambling around trying to find a solution, I am very pleased.
