Converting BluRay DVDs to play on Mac

Is it possible with the use of an external blu ray drive to take a Blu Ray DVD (that we own) and rip it to a mac in full quality using mac the ripper?

I have a bluray drive connected to my Macbook Pro but I have to boot into windows to play and discs or rip them with AnyDVD.
