Converting ismv files?

    Can anyone suggest any software for converting an 'ismv' file please?

    My ismv file contains a hi-def video programme that I'd like to convert to something that I can play on my TV, maybe via an external hard drive. Ive tried Handbrake on my MacBook but it doesn't seem to recognise the file. Any suggestions please?
