I am working on mom into an iPhone user was easier than I thought.

All of our lives we have used android devices. My mom tried an iPhone back when the 5c came out. She had it
On a bad network and it was horrible. It gave her ptsd or something when it came to iPhones. Because I’ve been trying to years to get her to give them another chance.

Finally, that chance happened today. I got the 13 pro max and gave her my 13 because the android she had was slow. Took 2 seconds just to type a letter on the keyboard. After I showed her how to use it. She looked at me and said “this is beautiful. This device is like a work of art. And it works!”. So I leave and go home. She calls me and says “I will never go back to android again”.

Mission complete!

And I must say, the camera on this 13 pm is sick!

I wish my Mum would switch. Not only does she use a crappy phone, she has no idea how to use it. Having never used an android phone in my life, I’m her tech support. All done by phone as I live at the other end of the country. My parents are both awful when it comes to tech. Once took me over an hour to get my Dad to start a team viewer session on his PC.

Depending on the level of support they need, it might be time to consider a rule of "you use something I use, or else find support elsewhere." A bit harsh, and I believe in general in freedom of technology choices--but it's better for everyone in a case like this if the people providing support are supporting something they know.

Maybe I'm just sensitive, having been driven crazy by one too many "I need help with Windows and you seem to know something about computers!!!" requests from various people whom I know.

They go through spells of needing my support. Not too bad most of the time. But then they have an issue and it’s not easy.

All of my life my friends have always asked me for helps with their PC. And their smart devices. It has gotten old in my later years. To the point it literally drove me out of my love for repairing things like computers and smartphones. I haven’t worked on or owned a pc for about 10 years now.

Good son. What Android was she using by the way? And how old?

She’s used various android and one iPhone that she hated. It was the 5c. Not a good device to start with lol cause it really sucked. But once I got the 13. I let her trial it for a day and she loved it. Plus it gave me a good reason to fix the mistake I made. Buying the 13 instead of the 13 pro max due to lack of stock and my impatience. Lol

My Dad, 92, is completely hostile to new tech, even though smart phones are not new, they are new enough. He uses his track phone and just wants it to make phone calls. Every so often, the iPhone subject comes up and he seems interested but he rejects it in the end, and I realize that I’d be spending a lot of time on the phone explaining things, maybe repeatedly, that is if he tries to do something besides make a phone call. ;)

Being retired you use you minutes in 2 years you still use the pay as you use service retired I'm use a Trap Phone pay as go phone! Been using two years now and is happy with it!
