How long can you record using QT?

I heard with Audacity you need to convert to MP3?

The recordings to transfer will be 30-45 minutes.

Until no more storage disk space is available. 45 minutes take up less than 500 MB in uncompressed format.

You do not NEED to, but you can. Audacity records uncompressed unless set otherwise, if even possible.

+1 for Audacity, I use it to do that very thing in my studio, its free and has some good built in tools to make the recordings even better, can enhance the tracks to bring out some highs from dead tapes and remove noise between songs.

I convert to MP3 for compatibility with other devices but it will default to wave
