Converting to Mpeg2

Hi, I have these Mts files coming off of my camcorder that I really need to convert to mpg2 files. I've tried using VLC to do it but it doesn't work. Handbrake also can take the files but only converts to Mp4. It needs to be specifically mpeg2 files. Any ideas how this can be done?

Apple Final Cut Pro will do (95% sure), though is perhapps a little costly.


I've also seen a program called M2TS Converter which is degined for just the task.

I HAVEN' T used used it and are not familuar with the company so can't recommended it. It is free though, so what the hell if you want to try.

(by the way MTS is a type of MPEG it is an abrievation for MPEG-2 Transport stream.
