converting troubles

I posted this question before but it never was resolved. I am trying to rip some dvds so I can use them on my apple tv as well as my ipod

now I use the following settings in handbreak

- 2 pass encoding
- turbo first pass
-insert ipod atom

the movie rips to my hd and i drop it in my movies section of my itunes..now it works fine..until i try to put it on my apple tv or on my ipod...any ideas?

You have to convert it to a MP4 file format - using Codecs MPGEG-4 Video / AAC Audio.

Are you not getting video or audio... or both?

I hear no mention of iPod hi red setting?
Give that a shot and tell us if there are any problems left?

will it still play on apple tv?

If an iPod can play it, then the atv can play it. That does not go both ways though.
