I have a vacation video that I want to grab a few minutes off of. It's a VOB file. I copied the files onto the computer, but I need to convert it so i can edit it in iMovie. I have tried 4Media Video Converter, Handbrake, MPEG Streamclip. Nothing is working. I am looking for freeware. I didn't want to buy something to convert 3 minutes of video. Anyone know of anything out there that can help me?

But you need the whole DVD not just the .vob file to successfully transcode the video.
By whole DVD I mean the complete VIDEO_TS folder.
Handbrake is a good application that works, also MPEG Streamclip works, but it needs the QuickTime MPEG-2 Playback Component. See link above.

Also MRoogle will give you plenty of threads about this issue.
