Using VisualHub to convert VIDEO_TS folder containing full length feature film with 5.1 soundtrack.. I chose the setting - Optimize for "Apple TV 5.1" so that the resulting file has 6 channel sound.

The resulting file however only has MONO track. Wonder where am I going wrong?

    Resulting file Screencap

Here's the screen capture of the resulting file loaded in QT.. with Video Inspector showing "mono" audio channel

    hmm

    Try using the Visualhub's Apple TV 5.1 + 2

That file in your screenshot has a mono AAC audio track, not the the 5.1 AC3 passthru. It may contain the AC3 but Quicktime defaults to not playing it. If you have Quicktime Pro, you can check which audio tracks are contain and which is the default (which you can change.)

If you just want more info about your file use MediaInfo Mac (freeware.) It will tell you about the different audio tracks contain in the file.

If you don't have the Perian Quicktime plug-in, I am not sure but Quicktime might not be able to play the AC3 audio at all.

VLC should play the AC3 track fine.

    Good Luck
