Yeah the price hike is not proportionate to the upgrade in materials, but the shininess, exclusivity and durability helps to justify it somewhat...

I Think it’s beyond just the price Hike in terms of materials, where it’s likely the amount of research and development, additional health sensors, and let’s be honest, Apple is known to raise prices of their products over the years ‘Because they can’, which has been proven many times with the iPhone, iPad and other products.

So just an update, today my 14 day return window closed and I'm sticking with the Aluminum. It's been great so far. I'm going to give it a shot for the year and see what happens!

Here’s my 2c.. first off I had the very first AW in SS Silver. I loved the look of it. Just like someone else said go big or go home. The aluminum version just looked cheap to me, especially the silver version. I’m a watch guy and I feel naked when I don’t have one on. And the silver SS looked more like a piece of jewelry. With that being said I ended up selling that AW like 4/5 mos into having it b/c I really didn’t use it as much as i thought I would due to me always having my phone. And at that time there was no cellular version. Also the fact it was too small for my taste at 40mm. So the fact the Series 4 is bigger with the curved edges and the updates that have been done I figured I would give it another go.

With that being said, I’ll be honest and I did contemplate on getting the aluminum version due to the price but again I just couldn’t. The SS is soooo much nicer and just makes a statement. However this go around I opted for the SBSS. The silver SS over time just accumulates so many fine scratches and micro abrasions I just couldn’t deal. I’m hella OCD when it comes to stuff like that. Even with just having my hand in my pocket creates those fine scratches along the case. And yea I know I cld buff it out but who wants to have to deal with that. Not me!! Lol And the SB looks freaking amazing and it has the coating to ensure it keeps its slick look. I receive it tomorrow.

For distance SBSS and SG aluminium the only difference is one glossy black and the other is matt black. I do not know if that glossy black creates 'looks freaking amazing' to you compared to a matt black?

The SS version just makes it “pop”. I prefer the glossy look more since it’s more so a piece of jewelry vs a fitness tracker.

I had the S3 Space Grey and liked for four months and then I felt it was only okay and was already planning on getting the S4 SS. The SBSS is very nice looking but less number of straps would go with it. I would have to go 3rd party for straps with shiny black lugs. Maybe in time I will feel that shiny steel lugs with SBSS looks good. For my S4 SS I plan on rotating the SS Link bracelet, a deployment leather strap, a pin buckle strap to see which one is the most comfortable and looks the best. If you don’t to care to wear Bracelets or leather straps then the aluminum will be fine. The aluminum looks good with the sport bands.

I’ve heard ppl speak of this and I don’t agree. Yea you may have to go third party on some bands to match the clasp and adapters for SB which is what I did. But I also have the black and the blue leather loop from Apple. I went third party for a brown one just so I wouldn’t have SS silver clasp and adapters b/c I agree that wouldn’t look that great. I’d be OCD abt it as well. I think ppl make that comment not b/c of the band colors but due to Apple not making bands where the adapters and the clasps match SBSS. Stay tuned for pics of my watch and the bands I have.

I had the SS S0 but I’ve had aluminium S3 and now S4 since. I agree the SS looks better but to me it’s not worth the extra cost when it does the exact same thing.

Oh, one more thing: Don't know if you care about this at all, but for me it's a huge deal to make my gadgets match look-wise. And the SBSS just is a perfect match to the SG iPhone X in that regard. :)

i felt the same way about the my AW0 SS but the cost this time around i could not justify.

SG AW4 and love it

Yep! I'm sticking with the aluminum. I won't use cellular and I can't justify the price difference. I'll see how the next 10 months go and if I want to get the SS Series 5 I will. Hopefully they will easier to find as well.
That’s exactly what I’m doing. I’ll put the difference towards an S5 or S6 in the next year or two. I just bought an aftermarket band on Amazon and I always have my phone with me when I go out so I don’t miss cellular at all.

If I use the Watch for 2 years, its about 125€ extra per year of use for the SS.
I know the screen will be scratch free and the SS I can polish like new for selling it.
I think it also matters how old you are and what kind of job you have. I can understand, that
someone who still goes to school would not want to pay the extra for the SS. I would not have done this too.
But if you are 30+ and in a good job or maybe you are running a good own business, the 125€ extra per year will not hurt you so much.
I dont really like the SBSS and only the gold or silver version is interesting.
If you would buy the SBSS, you can buy the SG Aluminum Watch too, as it is only matt vs glossy.
Paying the extra money just for the glossy effect... I dont think it would worth it.
Silver Aluminum vs SS Silver is a huge difference.

Let's watch the stereotyping. I am an attorney. I went with the aluminum. My boss, who is the general counsel of a large company, also liked my aluminum watch.

Dont get me wrong, there is nothing bad about the aluminum, I like the look of the Space Gray Aluminum too.
The Silver Aluminum not so much.
And for sure we can not say "rich people buy SS, poo people buy aluminum". I didnt want to say that with my post.
I just wanted to say, that if you are still going to school for example, you maybe should buy the Aluminum.
But if you do not really have to care about the money and you really really like the SS watch so much more, just because YOU want it, think about spending the extra money, if you like the product more and if you are happyer with it.
Dont do it for other people, just for you.
I mean there a people who likes to drive a mercedes and they spend 600$ a month for it and they will not get the money back later.

I have something around 20 bands, and yes, I coordinate the band to match my attire. The band switching is all about the personalization, it’s what makes the Apple a watch so unique and virtually endless with customization. [And probably my favorite aspect of the watch.]

I completely agree with the above statement. The difference between Alu and SS black is matt vs glossy. It is not striking enough to justify the price premium SSSB is asking for, but then again money is not a problem to many peoples here. Surely they can go and buy one without justifying to much.

Well this isn't all the way true... b/c the key difference is matte vs glossy. That's a big difference and also due to the screen being upgraded to sapphire. However, i do agree with you as far as it being a big difference b/t the silver aluminum and SS silver. But hey to each their own.

I like watches I have bought a few have one somewhat vintage one. I just bought the Space Blk Series 3 a few months ago. The only reason I am getting the 4 and still might pass is because of the SS gold. It looks nice really nice.
I stopped wearing regular watches because I always had my cell phone handy so to me it made a watch obsolete at least somewhat. Not that you can do so much with these watches I feel naked when I don’t have it
I have the series 2 SS watch. It cost a pretty penny a few years ago with the apple leather band. I wish now I had never got the SS model because now it's not worth hardly anything and I do have a scuff on the edge of the glass. It's hard to see but it's there.

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is I thought I would keep it longer than 2 years, but I saw the stainless steel gold watch and I am in love with that one and want that one now. The aluminum gold looks ugly in my opinion.

The only aluminum I considered getting was the Space Grey (Gold or Silver were never an option to me).

I'm coming from a Series 3 Edition Grey and honestly it's tough for me to tell Space Grey and Ceramic Grey apart.
