I can put my iPhone on the charger when I get home and hang out with my kids. I still have access to information and notifications from my watch, but I can just glance at them and it's not as distracting as my iPhone.

I'll second this as well.

Too many people worry about performance of third party apps, lack of enough third party apps, or other aspects of the watch like that. It's true - the value isn't really there from that perspective. But, what makes the watch great, and super useful, is this core function of notification handling. Then consider the ease of setting alarms, reminders, etc. by raising your wrist and using voice only, and of course the ability to tell time and see other basics like weather in the complications, and I think it's a great value proposition for many.

If you need convincing or your wife does, then maybe getting the watch isn't the best for you.

Why not just buy the watch and tell your wife you bought it?

I think that is the best approach. If I informed my fiancé every time i wanted to buy a new gadget I wouldn't get to buy anything as he would just moan and say that I don't need it. The best strategy is to just buy it. He just rolls his eyes and accepts it. Simple.

Do you work at a company that provides cash/in-lieu for maintaining your fitness? Many large companies offer this. If so, the watch can be rationalized as "pays for itself" as part of fitness tracking program.

The next time either of you miss an important phone call or text because you did not hear the phone for whatever reason, Apple Watch solves this problem. Once her attention is given, go to the videos, then off to the Apple Store to touch feel. How I did it with my wife, worked like a charm. Hope it works for you.

Both comments well said.
