Most of the complaints regarding how Windows works only show the commentator's lack of knowledge about Windows. I use both side by side and love aspects of each and loathe aspects of each too.
As someone who has used DOS and some computers that had only line editors, I occasionally realize that Linux, etc are simply amazing. (i admire even obscurities such as ReactOS, which is amazingly active, despite seemingly a lost cause. However I want to try ReactOS when they announce a true release.) Like you, i also b1tch about things i feel could be better.
As a mostly Win32 user, i still think I have some sense of Apple's weaknesses. Most seem to stem from higher per-unit production costs. (if you read about US auto manufacturing up til the early 60's, you'll see these kinds of hobbles described.) This must terribly frustrate the designers.
I've had suspicion that OSX is not as cfgable despite the PR that OS X is Le Creme d'(G)UI. I know I'll continue finding cfg tips, so I've made no judgment yet.
In 10/20/50 yrs time I still want to be able to find my photos, no matter what OS I may be using then.
Yes but realistically, "legacy" data must occasionally be shuffled forward, else is soon locked out.
Finder is as vague as a very vague thing and often I have no idea where the files shown actually are. I have to use terminal hacks to show paths in Finder to make up for Finder's uselessness
A nice file manager would be ... nice.
Please post more. In particular the OS (and apps, etc) comparisons.
