I couldn't give a rats arse whether you keep it or not, why would people want to convice you or even give a crap?

Get a grip man, it's a laptop.

So rude. The guy is asking for help in reaching a conclusion and you think this is an appropriate response? Remember that saying: if you have nothing nice to say, keep your mouth shut...

OP, buyer's remorse is no fun, I feel for you! I think the other's advice of return and re-assess sounds like a good option. Also, don't forget that you have 14 days to return the machine, you can pick up an MBA in the meantime and just return the one that you decide upon. If that's not a feasible option and you still have your old Toshiba, it might be helpful to try using the lower-res display again and seeing how it feels. From a performance standpoint, it's difficult to know how taxing the work the you do really is and whether or not the processor speed / # of cores is very meaningful. Flash games seem like they can run the gamut from simple games like pong to full fledged desktop games taking advantage of 3D hardware.

Good luck!

I need some convincing to keep this or some solid advice on what I should do!

Step 1: Figure out your *needs*
Step 2: Figure out your *wants*
Step 3: Balance the two against your willingness to pay
Step 4: Identify the computer and configuration that fits the parameters in Step 3
Step 5: Keep what you have or return it based on the answer in Step 4.

Asking a bunch of strangers who've never met you isn't one of the above steps. :D

I got the 2.3/16GB rMBP and it's lovely but I don't know if it's lovely enough to warrant being double the price of a 13" Air/Pro. Everyday I think about returning it, buying the 13" Air and having a LOT more money.

My main areas of work are Flash games, iOS apps, websites, Photoshop... sometimes Unity but that's not very often. I take my laptop with me a lot but I was fine carrying a 17" Toshiba monster so any laptop is portable enough for me. Would the Air be able to handle my work? I know the Pro is better but I would have to upgrade to an SSD now I've used one I couldn't live without it and although I could handle the fatness the Air is pretty, plus I am a resolution whore.

I need some convincing to keep this or some solid advice on what I should do!

Damn you Apple! I wish you would hurry up and release a retina 13" with upgradeable RAM, or just up the resolution on the Pro to regular HD and I would be convinced.

I AM SO LOST.

Do youpeople not research this stuff before you buy it? By the time you drop over 2k dollars for something I would think you would know the ins and outs. All these people are buying up these rmbp's and then abusing the 14 day return policy because THEY didn't think twice before click the add to cart button.

That is close to the most ridiculous thing I've read all week. Apple sets the return policy, no questions asked for 14 days. This is so you can really tell if the device is correct for your needs. If not then send it back! Do it as many times as you need to.

The overhead of this policy is built into the price of the products. You're paying for it, so use it. Make up your mind 100% before buying for the benefit of people on a waiting list? This makes me laugh.

Wow, it sounds more to me like he is returning it because he regrets spending the money. NOT bc it doesn't meet his needs. I have seen at least 10 people on here in the past two days returning them because they basically regret spending the money. Buying a MBA and seeing that it can't keep up with processing huge raw files or something is a lot different than buying a rmbp and then just deciding man that cost to much. I think I will just take it back and get a MBA! Think what you will about my comment but I still am blown away by these people.

and most of those posts start like this "well, after spending what amounts to the price of a used car, im regretting... blah blah"... Buyers remorse on these units rarely comes about because of the machine itself, its always once the bill comes.

winner winner chicken dinner. My point exactly. I did my research before clicking add to cart. I knew I was getting a slim laptop with amazing power and an awesome screen. I knew it wasn't upgradeable to I went with 16gb ram. I knew the hdd wasn't able to be changed out so I picked up a NAS solution and a usb 3.0 enclosure. I looked at the MBA. Knew it would have a hard time keeping up for 4-5 years so I passed it up. Looked at a IMAC. Need portability so I passed it up. Configured a couple classic MBPs. found out the only way to get a good video card was with the high end 15" model and then when that one was qeuipped with SSD and stuff it was more than a retina. I did my research. this guy didn't. Now he wan'ts our sympathy? I just wan't my laptop to get here. Meanwhile this guy wants me to tell him how lucky he is and how he should jsut keep it. UGH

This 100%.

If you have any doubt whatsoever, take it back.

You can always just place another order if you change your mind again.

Apple is incredibly wealthy. They can take the small hit. And on your next Apple purchase, they will have made the money back.

and actually, the SDDs ARE upgradable, but nobodys making them yet. you can pop it out just like any other model. However, im sure once third party drives become available for the rMBP theyll be expensive anyway, but its not soldered in like the ram

The 14 day return policy does not say you need a good reason. You can return it just because you think the spacebar is 1mm too short. If you think it costs too much after using it for a while - that's a fair reason. It's probably the best reason to return it.

Now to be totally honest, if I thought it cost too much I would make up my own mind and stop asking the Internet what to do. But that's a different story.

A lot of good replies and I am very thankful. I am driving a long way to return it tomorrow as you are right; if I am having doubts then it isn't for me... and I can always rebuy.

Those saying I should've looked into it and known what I was buying; I did... on paper. When I made my order people's hadn't arrived yet so I didn't have actual user-experience to go on. I was just hoping for the best and knowing I would have a return period if it didn't match my expectations.

Thanks again people that helped :)
