Conversion losses.

Interesting. How much energy is lost when the battery pack battery charges the iPhone battery (mind you, if you wait and turn on the battery pack when the battery is low there is not the loss that occurs when the battery pack is left trickle-charging)?

A larger internal battery works like every other internal battery.

An external battery pack/case needs to have its output converted to USB 5V or other selected voltages before it can charge the phone's internal battery. The conversion process is not 100% efficient.

I have a 6600mAh pack. The manufacturer claims up to 4 full charges of an iPhone. I never got any more than 3.
