I don't understand why you'd say this now, rather than next year. How do you know that Apple isn't going to release several amazing products this year? At least if you said this next year, you would know whether or not the smile meant something. Right now you're shooting in the dark and have a 50/50 chance of looking silly.

I will say: it may or may not mean big things are coming.
How does anyone know what will happen next year? How do any random pictures from events imply something about be future? This has nothing to do with saying something good will or won't happen or something else will happen. It has everything to do with saying that none of this implies one thing or another, especially when it's about something unknown like the future.

It's just silly. That's the point--exactly what you said at the very end, it may or may not mean anything, which means it means absolutely nothing since anything may or may not happen for any reason without anything implying it.

It does seem strange that he's grinning in this one but has never done so previously.

I'm just saying - wait and see before commenting. If Apple comes out with loads of amazing products now this year, this thread won't look so silly.

How do we know he wasn't grinning in any of the other instances and it's just not a picture that was chosen as the cover for whatever reason?

And I haven't commented of anything at all about the future or products except to say that it's plain silly to comment on the future and products based on some selected pictures from some previous events.

Whatever Apple does or doesn't do won't be related to any random photos from previous events, that's the silly part.

Clearly from this string of pictures, Tim Cook has never smiled so widely in his life prior to that recent photo. It can only mean that either new amazing products are coming down the pipeline, or he lost his virginity the night before that last photo was taken. I can only hope to smile that widely someday.

Clearly. Or maybe the alien overlords that Apple knows about are finally coming.

I think you nailed it, CDM. I project that everyone with iPhones will be able to board a ship to travel outer space, while all others (aka fandroids) will remain on the planet, which will be destroyed with one large LASER BEAM. Oh, what a glorious future that will be. No wonder he has a smile on his face in that last photo.

See how I brought it back on topic with that last line, mods?!?

Except I'm taking a 'who knows' stance - I can't possibly be wrong.
As opposed to saying that photos don't tell anything and basically anything is possible which means the same thing basically?

Unless you work for Apple's marketing department you can't possibly know if it's deliberate or not.
Whether it is or isn't still says nothing about the future since one knows what it holds no matter what. Like you yourself said, "who knows".

The OP could be right on the money. Apple might have deliberately used a picture in which he appears more pleased as they have more / better products to announce.

I'm just saying we have no way of knowing, either way.

Yes, taking one frame out of a presentation where smiles are essential to illustrate your point is logical!

The CEO may look comfortable on stage because he's full of confidence from a fantastic product line for 2014 or perhaps because of Dutch courage.. ;)

And it seems like that's what I've been saying all along, the part about not knowing and thus it being silly to make some assumptions simply based on various photos.

Half of them weren't even smiles and most of you sound absolutely brainwashed with posts like 'yeh, i agree' or to that effect.

I'm actually quite scared. :|

Because it's Apple.
You get it?
