This new MBA won't run as hot as the Rev A MBA, but wondering if using the CoolBook would improve the battery life a bit.

It gave me about 0.5 to 1 hour of extra battery life on the Rev A MBA.

    Anyone tried?

Im running a beta of CoolBook compatible with the new 11" MBA. Its getting a little cooler of course, but I havnt done any battery test with and without it. But a little cooler and a little longer battery life is absolutely worth $10 for a computer you will use for a long time.

I'm using CoolBook on my 11 incher, and it definitely increases battery life--I was able to undervolt all the way to the bottom of the range even at the highest frequency, and it works wonderfully. I need to do more research, but so far it has been stable, cool and much more battery efficient. Highly recommended.

Runs great on my MBA 13 2.13! Able to run at lowest possible voltage even at 2.13 ghz. Now I can watch Hulu without the fan becoming very audible

I got the beta by writing to the author...but that was before his most recent update. I believe it is now, as of 2.20, compatible with the new MBA out of the box.

That's a feature where your bus speed is cut in half as a power-saving option. It's only enabled when it is available for your particular processor.

Because it isn't enabled for your processor. That feature is only for certain steppings of the C2D processor, as I told you in my last response.

Can someone post any kind of battery life comparison for 11"? OS estimation numbers is enough.

Yes--I'm getting about 90 minutes more on a full charge. I haven't done exhaustive work yet, but that's pretty accurate.

I want coolbook for the exact opposite. I like to run mameOSX, but the throttling in OSX is way to extreme for the emu to run efficiently. I will be purchasing yet another license and trying it on my 11 1.6. Hope it helps.

the best 10 dollars you will spend on the macbook air. i mean if you care about battery life or heat. it reduces heat to the touch and improves battery life by 1:30 to 2:00 hours...by undervolting the cpu.

Really helped me as well. I bought the latest version for my ultimate 11" air and it can run at the lowest possible voltage at all clockspeeds (I think it's 0.875v IIRC). I haven't done any formal tests but it definitely feels like it lasts a significant amount of time longer than before, like almost a full hour.

This is probably a stupid question but does it slow things down when more intensive use is needed?
