copy and paste FINALLY .. have to be jailbroken

ok i look at cydia and there is a new app. called Clippy beta

it adds awesome copy and paste. its where the @123 is . when you hit that there is something that says copy/Paste.. seriously awesome . from mail to safari to notes it works well .. GO GET IT
 
I'm waiting for that damn USB port to get in the mail so I can JB my phone...damn 10.5.6 screwing things up.

Why the **** did I wait so long??
 
Just got it... seems to be working well! How do I not use it though... like if i make a spelling error and want to go back, it just highlights everything?

It’s very easy to use this app. Once installed, start typing text, then select it with your finger, and tap the “123″ key to show a new line at the top of your keyboard. Now tap copy and then enjoy yourself to paste your text in every other app you want!

Yes. There is a post below this that I created. Its not really that great as you can navigate to links directly from mail, and send links to others from safari so there is no need for it.

Have you ever been writing an email and needed to delete a large amount of text or move some text to a different place in a note? Or wanted to copy some text from an email and put it into a note? Or copy something from a text message and google the text or copy it to another text message?

This app is an awesome start! It is a bit buggy...I had to add a space from the keyboard after copying some text from an email to the google search in safari to get it to recognize that I had entered some text, but it did work after I did that. It was not obvious how to cut, but I just highlighted some text and pressed the backspace key and it did cut the text.

It would be nice to be able to copy text from Safari, but hopefully that will come in time.

HUGE thanks to the developer! It feels like you've breathed some air into the iPhone with the ability to do this! After using the Treo and other Palm devices for years, it was actually exciting to be able to highlight text!
 
ok there is a workaround to get it system wide. .. its kinda long

since you can only copy/paste when you have the keyboard up.

what you do is add .. safari addon plugin the other copy paste method.

when you on a website and wanna copy something hit bookmark then copy .. everything in that website will show up so your able to copy it. copy whatever you want. to mail from mail use the new copy paste method and use for safari ...like i said LONG but if you really wanna do it you can

You can't copy/paste from SMS can you?
 
just tried this.

Works great! Cant believe apple couldnt come up with this! 🙄

Can you copy ANY bit of text from an app to another app? 😕

Nvm, should've read the link 😀

But it there a way to copy plain text that's on a site that you cannot edit? For example, if there is a a comment on Youtube, can you copy that into an email?
 
One review I found states that scrolling with the selector/finger cursor is disabled once this app is installed.

Another reviewer's phone locked up.

Can anyone confirm/deny these?

I think I will give it a try, however.
 
Another nice feature. When you select a sentence to want to copy you also can delete it all in one push of delete
 
It's pretty good, actually. There is another update out today, so hopefully development will move pretty quickly. This is yet another reason to jailbreak until Apple gives us the features we want.
