Sometimes, when I click on Command and C to copy text or Command and V to paste text, I get a sound which tells me that it didn't complete the action (copy or paste).

The sound is like an exclamation for Mac.

I can copy and paste by using the contextual menu but I cant use the keyboard shortcut.

I can even use F5 and F6 to copy and paste because I have programmed that in those keys but CMD and C/V just wont work.

Any ideas?

I'm not so sure if you can have two different keyboard shortcuts for one command.

I would suggest going to the Keyboard and Mouse pane in System Preferences and trying changing it there by adding a command for all apps.

Hope that helps :)

I need a universal copy and paste function and it doesn't always work when I press CTRL and C or CTRL and V.

It just makes a sound to say "no can do".

Any suggestions,

JH

does cmd+q quit apps? My keyboard switches the cmd and option(windows) keys around when first installing OS X, so I have to swap them with the modifier keys in the keyboard preferences.

Yeah my CMD works as it should.

Sometimes, it copies/pastes and at other times, it gives me that sounds saying no.
