Copy my internal to external

i know i can use carbon copy, but if i just highlight all the folders in my user directory (ie music documents movies etc), will and copy them to the user location on my external hard drive (bootable w/ same username), will it be basically a copy of my internal drive, with all the same files, app prefs, etc?

Mostly. I've done that quite a bit with few problems. But with applications you can sometimes have a problem.

i do it that way to back up my music, photos, etc
