I have 22GB of photos which puts me just over the 20GB plan. Instead of paying 3.99/month for space I won't use, I want to trim my library.

What I'd like to do is divide my photos between old and new. I have everything in one library right now. How can I take out the photos I want to classify as old and put them in a second Photos library? I have all my photos in the right folders/albums (which took forever) so I'm afraid to mess up that structure.

Any ideas how I can separate my Photos library into two, and maintain the folder/album structure?

The easist approach is to duplicate the library and delete what you don't want out of both - as mentioned by kirky29, just be sure to backup the original library so you can return back to that if things go wrong.

Another option is to export the images out, create a new library and import - seems like this would be more work though.
