Copy program data

Hi all,

Just acquired a 2013 Imac: as my Dad couldn't get used to it after all these years with windows

Is it possible for me to backup certain programs that are already on the machine, installed from cd, before i completely re-install yosemite?

Normally no. Programs installed by CD installers normally install more than just the stand alone app package and also install support files in different folders.
