is there an option on the macbook (OSX 10.9.5) to add right click move/copy to as in windows, this would make moving files so much easier.

Thank you

Buy PathFinder it has option for that you can add to right click menu or hold down the command key I think it is when dragging and dropping in finder.

... a paste option will appear when right-clicking in a blank space of folder.. also, just drag&drop with the option key.. a green + will appear.. this will copy files to new locations.. that's pretty much the mac way.

thank you, I use this at times but then I have to go back and delete the file from the original location which is what I wanted to avoid.

oh.. then you're just wanting to Move.. not copy.

in that case, you just drag&drop.. if you're moving to another volume, it will copy the file by default.. (if you're drag/dropping to ,say, another drive, a green + will appear at the cursor to signify the file will be copied as opposed to just moving.. to suppress the green + , push the command key and the file will simply move to the other drive.)

Hold down the OPTION/ALT key while right-clicking. The "Paste ..." menu item will change from "Copy ..." to "Move ...".

The same thing happens in the "Edit" menu of the menubar.
