That's quite an assumption on your part. I can't discuss my site as that would be too close to promoting it, but you can probably figure out how to find it. I offer a suite of online maps that consist of tiled data, where a large map is broken down into 256x256 pixel image tiles. To over-simplify things, each pixel might represent a 4ft x 4ft (1.2m x 1.2m) square in the real world. I have a lot of maps, therefore: lots of files. A map that covers the Northeastern US at that resolution contains about 18 million tiles (files), for example.

But as I posted above, the problem is already solved and I don't need any further suggestions. Thanks.
