copying all data from one external drive to another?

a good way to do this? (not drag and drop - it gets to a file thats on there somewhere with a dodgy character in its' name and stops)

any good utilities for this?

Try Carbon Copy Cloner. It works very well for me and should not have any problems with filenames.

CCC, SuperDuper, and Sync2Folders are all good to use.

I highly recommend it. It's my backup/restore program of choice.
