copying email to folders in mail

hmm, sorry to ask yet another vacuous question but how can I get my email to go into folders..I've tried everything!

Happy New Year to you, too. Safari > Preferences > Rules > Action: Move to Folder. Or make Smart Mailboxes to organize your mail without moving it.
