Copying files error -36?!!

    Finder cannot complete the operation because some data in "..." couold not be read or written. (error code -36)

    i have tried this with several files and they all come up the same. This occurs when i copy from my Mac hadrdrive to my external FAT32 harddrive.

    Any help?thanks

    FAT32 has a maximum file size of 4GB. Are you trying to copy some files larger than that?

    no i wasnt, the files i tried were about 250MB, and 2.1GB. this is kind of stressing me out a bit...

    thats a read/write error

    are you sure your files arnt corrupted or that you have a bad drive?

    im sure my files rnt corrupted as i can watch them on my mac drive. how can i tell if my harddrive is corrupted?

    have you added the right permisions to the drive

    like read/write etc

    HUH?lol.sorry but what does this mean?im a noob at macs.only had it a week.lol

    ok on the drive your copying to

    right click > get info

    under privileges

    go down and find Read/Write
    Read
    Write

    then click the little pad lock in the corner of the info box right at the bottom right hand side add your password

    make sure you have have read/write added or write

    that could work

    Unfortunatel no this doesnt work either. i already had read and write available for me.

    it is probably corrupted, can you just open it normally?

    Yes i can opne it and play all the files inside it. i just copied across a few photo which worked, but when i try to copy .avi files it doesnt.
