core audio just died on my iBook :(

all's not lost as i have an imic but is there anyway to revive my core audio?

Open and close GarageBand.

dont think its a software issue mate
i turn my computer off then back on and the chime doesn't event sound🙁

The chime doesn't use Core Audio. Have you lost all sound altogether?
