i bought MBP Base model a month ago. i did upgrade only RAM , 16GB i5 8th Gen with Airpods Pro (Edu discount). The device has just come. I have a couple weeks to give back. May i return i5 and buy New macbook without Airpods ? What is my options? i don't like so much Air version. I used a long time ago . I want to test touch bar anymore.But if you say MBA is best, i have no choice then. Also i wonder 8GB vs 16GB in both systems. May we say 8GB M1 equals 16GB intel?

if i return this is what i can buy;

1)MBA 16GB RAM ( it is little bit cheap than i5 MBP version)
2)MBP 8GB RAM or maybe 16GB ( it is expensive)

In addition, i will lose Airpods ..

What i do with MBP : Photoshop,Unreal Engine 4, Blender 3D (Kind of these programs) . Maybe if i create USB windows,i will not have to divide SSD. i can use windows as well. But it is not important rn.

I would be surprised you would need to give back the AirPods, as you only exchanging the Intel Mac, but speak to Apple first.

The amount of RAM depends on what you are going to do with it. If you plan to significant video editing with 4k video or big logic projects then 16GB Air will be the one to go for. The reason is you can run out of memory video editing 4k video with the 8GB MBP with certain raw formats. However the Air will step down the processor for sustained use over 10 minutes. Performance loss is typically only 10-15%. However at least you will be able to complete the project.

If you do a lot of zoom calls the M1 MBP has better microphone and speakers.

The M1 MBP also has a brighter screen (500 nits c/w 400 for the Air) and better battery life (although to be honest my M1 Air lasts all day anyway).

Another factor is the Touch Bar, I have been using a 2016 15" MBP for 4 years and hated the Touch Bar, so going for the Air without it, actually offset some of the other benefits of the M1 MBP for me. If you like the Touch Bar then go for the M1 MBP.

IMO, it’s early. Let the early adopters do the testing and validation of the new entry-level ASi machines. Your (new) Intel MBP has a lot of life in it yet and you will have no worries of incompatibilities and/or performance impact from Rosetta when running Intel binaries on ASi, for example.

Just my $0.02... I’m holding off for a bit before jumping onboard.

First of all, i just want to say ''Thank you'' for comments. After i watched so many videos about comparisons, i decided to give back MBP and buy new M1 MBP with 16GB RAM. But i've still concerns about return. i have no idea. In addition, i do not need any windows applications or platform and crackable programs for now. But if i'll need them, There won't probably bootcamp and crack programs. it is also good for all. Because it is totally smuggling.The developers makes an effort and They gives labor. Anyway, i am still watching and comparising all. Also i am interpreting the process. I'll see if it's good decision or not. Just need your wise informations guys. :)
