I normally use my first-gen (CoreDuo) MacBook (2.0 GHz Black) with an external Apple keyboard, so I'm not sure how long this issue has been going on. :/

I have no problems with my external keyboard, but my MacBook's built-in keyboard has been going nuts lately. Essentially some of the keys seem to be miss-mapped: when typing, the cursor will randomly jump around, select and overwrite text, and make it extremely difficult to type a coherent message.

This is not restricted to any one application.

I've tried watching the virtual keyboard to see if it thinks the wrong key is being pressed, but it seems fine. Also tried resetting PRAM - no change. I Googled the problem, but didn't find any fixes.

Strangely, the problem seems less prevalent if I type slowly. I've never spilled anything on the keyboard...

Unfortunately I don't have my original disks with me, so a reinstall of the OS is out until I can get a hold of them (and that seems a little extreme to me).

Anyone have any experience with this issue?
