screenshot shows "ask cortana". it's meant to be also used as a voice assistant.
In the case that you need to ask her about your data. Cortana for iOS is merely a reminder based and event based assistant. You can enable Hey Cortana from the start if you want to, but her feed is based on your events, just like how it was on Windows Phone.

so wait...you HAVE to use cortana to create a reminder in Windows?
if so, that sounds awful. if not, they should have called the iOS app Reminders or something. when I hear Cortana, I think voice assistant just like when people hear Alexa

Yes. It's the same thing in iOS, the only difference is apple allows you to use the reminders app. It's no big deal.

Agreed... if only i could set it so i could replace Siri on home button push or say Cortana or OK Google or Alexa... all three make Siri look like a children's toy.
Now that Amazon will be using Cortana technology, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple also makes a deal with Microsoft. The reality is Siri is way behind Cortana and Google Assistant. I guess Apple has the cash to invest in a competitor, but so does Amazon. It makes more sense to license Microsoft's tech, especially when that is clearly the direction MS is going and has had great success. Google is also a very real, direct competitor of Apple whereas Microsoft really isn't anymore. And besides, MS and Apple have always had a good competitive relationship.

That's actually a big deal and not the same as iOS Reminders. I've never used Siri on the Mac to create reminders but always use Siri on the iPhone on iOS to create reminders

nearly the opposite of Cortana one might say
