Shiny?
What KIND of dust particles?
Have you had them analyzed for content?
Quartz is much harder than clay.

You opted not to go through with the exchange?

Chances are, cosmetic damage will not be covered.

Never happened to me. I clean my phone and case once per week though. Only takes 3 minutes and results in good hygiene. There should not be any noticeable dust buildup inside your case within one week. Those who are unhygienic and do not clean their phones will find all sorts jammed inside their case which may cause cosmetic damage to their phone.

My grandmother received the first iPhone 14 Pro Max I owned, after-all she needed a new phone anyway. Yesterday, I unboxed the same model and color. I did not wash my hands in advance because my hands looked clean. I'm OCD when it comes to things like these. I apologize for bringing this up to you. What my question really is, "Do tiny solid dust particles cause microscopic abrasions?".

Dude unfortunately we don't live in a hermetically sealed world, even if you slap a leather case on it's all going to get in the back.

If you can’t see any damage there is no damage.

OCD or not you have an opportunity to exchange the phone no questions asked. Looking ant the message screen shots they said go anhead with the exchange.
After the 14 day return period elapses,
the leniency can change (based on the store and Apple support agent) and usually not in your favor.

You’ve mentioned dust. Is it linty or gritty.

My criteria and OCD may differ.
If I have noticeable scratches it would taken me at least a week to get to a point of looking at the phone in a case and not stressing.
If the scratches were on the front glass, I would have had to take a day off from work and have it exchanged.

Now that your situation was first mentioned 3 weeks ago, I would say it’s time to do the exchange before it’s really too late

The dust is gritty, maybe it came from dirt or some sort of solid crystal. I just received a new iPhone 14 Pro Max yesterday. This device is an entirely new one. My question is: Is the iPhone 14 dust proof/resitant?

Dust and grit will enter into every case, then they get trapped between the case and phone and friction and anything harder than the black paint will start scratching and wear down the coating.

Even without the case the colored surrounds for the camera lenses can get scratched or worn down with use. This is the reason I get plain stainless steel (white) phones as you can polish it away.

BTW: The cutout for the silence switch is notorious for letting in grit and scratching that area up.
