I can't even remember why they broke up in the first place.

I do recall Costco kicking Coke out a few years back, when not agreeing on paying a higher price.

Actually the Coke thing was when Costco found out Coke was selling to Walmart at a lower price, and demanded the same price. Coke said no, so Costco said "toodles!"

Guess who caved?

Better return policy than Apple Store?

And you get to support a business that treats its employees well. Very high pay (for the industry), very good benefits.

This right here. My wife has worked for Costco for just over 10 years now. They have great pay and great benefits.

No, but you can pick up and all beef hotdog and soda for $1.50 while you're there.

Those are £1.50 in the UK

You see, it isn't only Apple where $1=£1 or maybe stocking Apple products has given Costco 'ideas'.

This is some kind of joke, right? I leave a suggestion at Costco every week for the past 3 years to install WiFi in their stores like Sam's etc., but they just won't do it. How dare they sell WiFi products, but refuse to make WiFi available to their customers.

Is there any advantage to buying an Apple product at Costco? Do I get 500 rolls of toilet paper for free or something?

In the past you could get $100 in iTunes for 80 which was the only legal place you could get that kind of discount. Anyways I love Costco especially their gas.

You're probably the only person who really cares about that.

Costco got Mad, thought they could do without Apple

As I recall, Costco got mad because competitors were getting newest devices as well as iPhones (which Costco didn't sell), and so thought they'd handle Apple as they do other "suppliers" by discontinuing their items. I have known vendors who have reported that venders can never be late with mass quantities of ordered item, and venders cannot assist other stores in outdoing Costco. If so, they are removed from Costco inventory. I can see Apple not playing to Costco's tune in this, and I lamented when Costco removed Apple from Costco stores. However, I was never under the illusion that Costo was teaching Apple any lesson. If anything, Costco got schooled in this. :apple:

This is awesome! Unfortunately their 2 yr return policy probably wont apply to iPads. Their chicken bakes will make the trip worth it, though!

They've always sold Apple products :D

I seem to recall the divorce was over selling iPADs when they first came out (which Costco wasn't offered even though gong-shows like walmart and target were allowed to sell them).

I wonder how long this agreement will last, and if it is in other countries too. As others already mentioned, Costco likes to "have its way" with vendors and methinks Apple just won't ever be in the mood to bend over.

I knew this was coming. Apple needs as many brick and mortar retailers as possible to sell iWatches and an eventual line of Apple televisions.

I'm thinking Apple needs the additional retail outlets more than Costco needs to carry Apple products. I guess we'll all see how it plays out.

In the meantime, I'll be buying my next iPad at Costco so long as they carry it in the configuration I want.

What about we poor folk in Australia ?

Does anyone know what might be happening for Apple product at Costco in the Aus.

I would certainly buy Apple gear from Costco. Their 'no fuss' returns policy is fantastic.

Together with recent Australian Consumer Law changes that Apple has been forced to publish on their Aussy web site, it is a consumers right receive a repair, replacement or refund (the customer chooses the remedy not the seller) for any product failure than can be deemed to be 'major' during a reasonable life for the product. So the recent sleep/wake button problem on iPhone 5 is such an example. It's not Apple decision whether I gets refund, it is mine.

Does Costco only sell under contract phones at subsidized prices, or will they sell device only devices? Can you buy a Samsung phone from them at a no contract price now?

Also what are "embedded" iPads? Haven't heard that term before. Is that iPads that are on post-paid service? If so it seems like this is a bid to get the devices in their mobile kiosks within the stores rather than just available in the general store for cash and carry. They used to sell the iPod this way, but that has pretty much gone away as a category.

You cannot buy no contract phones at Costco.

So I'll probably never buy one there then. :-(

But it is good to see Costco making nice with Apple again and/or vice/versa.

It will be interesting to see the kiosks do an about face on badmouthing the iPhone. I've walked by several times to overhear them telling someone they don't want an iPhone anyways; that the crappy Android phones are the right choice for everyone!

The thing is, executive membership costs $110, $55 more than standard "gold star" membership. So you need to spend $2750 per year (excludes gas, food, alcohol in some states, travel, and several others) to recoup the difference. Spending $2750 is easily doable in some households, especially if you are planning on buying big ticket items likes TV. But I typically don't spend nearly enough to justify getting executive membership.

Yeah it did. My roommate in college returned his mom's 4 year old laptop for a full refund and then bought the newest model they had. Also had another friend return a TV 3 years later and do the same thing.

Whilst that is quite dodgy, he has been paying his fee each year, and on top of that, the money he paid 4 years ago has been invested and reinvested. Costco aren't losing out on this, they have their ways.

Who? It's all Pepsi in ours.

Coke did. I haven't seen an all-Pepsi Costco since late 2009.

If you don't make back the $55, they will refund you the difference.
