I put a new uj 846 matashita superdrive in a friend's iBook 1.33ghz 12" months ago. It crashed and no response. Three mac IT guys said the logic board crashed but this was a new logicboard. I'm wondering now if the superdrive had something to do with it? is that possible? There is a dvd stuck in the drive.

Had the failure happened when you put the drive in I could imagine it being possible (potential for static discharge damage, etc.) but not months later. Are you really sure it is a logic board problem in the first place? The reason I ask is that you will find tons of threads with problems concerning Matshita drives so I am just wondering if the replacement drive itself has died or has partially failed. That would be easy to imagine.
