Do I need to pay to use Spotify?No, the advertising-funded version of Spotify is free of charge, however, for now it requires that you receive an invite to register unless you are in the UK. Visit our invitation page to sign up to the waiting list. Alternatively, you can pay for an ad-free subscription to Spotify.

For those outside the UK they still need an invite. When I joined in November 2008, an invite was required for everyone excluding paying users. I don't believe members who register from within the UK without an invite will get invites either. I'm sure they're doing this to keep the user-base smallish (around 1 million) so as to have enough bandwidth

Lost between music and application.

I sent you an invite. It's actually pretty good. I use it quite a lot during the day while I'm doing work as some background music and it throws up some pretty good tracks. Even has links to download from iTunes.
