I was looking at the Wonderlust Event logo and suddenly it dawned on me that it looks like it is folding. Could Apple be hinting at a foldable device?

Maybe it could be a folding iPhone or iPad? Maybe it could be a completely new category of devices called iFold and/or iFlip. Could the iPhone Ultra be a flip or folding style phone?

Maybe the logo is hinting more towards the new periscope camera?

What are your thoughts?

Well it’s way past my bedtime so my thoughts are more along the lines of how much farther can I read before I nod off and drop my iPhone on my face. 😆

But I’m thinking Apple would have had to sew up the leaks and rumors tighter than we’ve ever known them to be able to, with their leaky supply chain, for them to be able to spring that kind of surprise on us at this point. I think back to iPhone X. It was supposed to be a One More Thing moment but we all knew about it.

It would be super cool if they managed to pull it off, though. But the rumors I have seen so far make it sound like Apple is still a couple of years away from releasing a foldable device. They’ve done a good job of giving the impression it’s not something they’re keenly intent on bringing to the market ASAP.

I imagine it will be underwhelming news dressed in enough flash so as to distract from scrutiny. Apple's been that way lately.

no idea what the logo might be hinting at, but I sure hope Apple has to show something that has not been part of the rumors, a la AW Ultra last year ... said it in another thread earlier today, Apple needs to get iPhone growth back and offer more choices than in today's lineup, a foldable would be a big seller.

No, definitely not! Folding phones are terrible and Apple won’t release one until they can eliminate the crease and make one that’s durable.
I know folding phones aren't appealing to everyone but Honor Magic v2 has been getting a lot of buzz recently. When folded, it is about as thick and a tad bit lighter than the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Despite being thinner than the Fold 5, it also has a higher capacity battery due to it using some new battery tech. I could honestly see Apple doing a folding phone like that one. The crease seems to be a non issue to most owners of folding phones.

I think for Apple foldables aren’t there yet. Apple tend to not enter a market until they can perfect it. I do think foldables are an interesting concept, however they are less durable than the normal smartphone. I know someone who has the Samsung ZFlip 3 and the amount of times it had to go in for repair was ridiculous. In the end they gave up with it and went back to an iPhone.

I’m not saying that foldables won’t get there in the future, but at the moment they tend to be thicker, less battery life, less durable and cost more. If Apple made a foldable it would probably cost around $2,000

The topic of Apple ever making a foldable phone always seems to anger many, for reasons unknown. However, the truth is that it's simply a matter of when at this point. Apple has filed foldable design patents which date back many years, so it's going to happen eventually. That said, expecting one this year would be threading the needle between optimism & wishing upon a star.

No but maybe one day apple will catch up but for now it's at least two years away I imagine

Volume and supply will be their biggest issue

You sure about that? It appears they are doing just fine:

If and when Apple does a foldable I will not be buying. All of you who want one, go get it.

I sit in front of a desktop computer with eight screens (one a 55" HDTV and two others 30" Cinema Displays) for over 16 hours each day. I have around me multiple laptops, Mac Minis and various other computers, as well as four phones (two of which have active lines). I have an iPad.

My average amount of time spent outside the house each day is less than four hours, the majority of it spent driving to and from places to drop people off or pick them up. I work from home.

There is no use case for a foldable here.

Go enjoy your foldable. I won't be participating.

if you look at. the numbers over the past several years, revenue/units are becoming flat ...
A foldable clearly isn't the answer to that. Samsung is giving them away at this point, and their market share still sucks.

Its because people are generally resistant to change, or talking about something they do not currently have access to, but that the opposition does. Apple fans (which i am part of), mocked large screen phones prior to the iPhone 6, mocked OLED screens prior to the iPhone X, mocked high refresh screens prior to the iPhone 13 Pro etc etc.

That's not folding that's just sand blowing. The logo is teasing what the default wallpaper will be though.

2021's iPhone event was called California Streaming, despite the iPhone 13 not having anything to do with streaming whatsoever. 2022's iPhone event was called Far Out and was full of stars, but aside from satellite SOS calling, there was nothing space related at the event at all.

The only iPhone event we had a definitive tease on was 2020's "Hi, Speed" and that event was only because the tease was 5G connectivity, something we already knew was coming prior since everyone was moving to 5G.

As I read your comment from my Z Fold 5, I can't help but wonder why you still think anyone is trying to convince you that you need a foldable. I can assure you that is not the case. You've made your stance quite clear in many threads now. Whether or not you buy a product has no effect on anyone else here, so your anger is a bit misguided.

You seem to be taking answers in these threads personally. Perhaps avoiding threads which are based around the discussion of foldable phones would help, as they seem to be slightly triggering for you.

You should have been here when the topics were:

• Space Gray is not black

• Camera bump (I don't like it)

• Cases (I don't use them)

• Notification light on the iPhone vs Apple Watch (I'm for the LED).

My thoughts and opinions on each are littered throughout.

Your suggestions are noted and you have my thanks for that, but I will continue to comment within the rules of the forum.
