So Apple’s event “Air Watch“ next week might just be an update to the current MacBook Air, but could you ever see Apple resurrect the MacBook 12” or 11” MacBook Air To show off the first Mac-Silicon? The Air would need a new design for the Apple Silicon, they can shave a lot of mm off, the upcoming Apple Silicon products.

Usually Apple releases their macOS versions at the end of September/beginning of October.
If they stick to this schedule, Big Sur is rather imminent (maybe little delays).
And as Big Sur is connected to the switch to ASi, it would make sense to offer the first ASi Mac alongside Big Sur.
And as the 13“ MBA and MBP have been refreshed this year but there is no small ultraportable device in the current lineup after the end of the 11,6“ MBA and the MB, it seems to me very logical (maybe too logical...) to fill this hole with a new ASi machine as described in the mentioned story.

Honestly, that would be too bad. I think a small screen is too cramped for MacOS. iOS (and iPadOS) was developed specifically to function on a small screen... that was literally the whole point of developing a new OS.

So now you want to have a small screen for MacOS??? That’s backwards. It’ll be a usability disaster. There’s a reason Apple abandoned small screens for their macOS computers, it didn’t stand the test of time. Those 11” MBA’s were a usability catastrophe... anyone remember trying to do word processing on a screen where you barely could see a full paragraph? No thanks!

If Apple were really a smart forward looking company focused on USER EXPERIENCE they’d come out with a 14” MBA as their first AS computer. But sadly Timmy is an uninspired bean counter so we can probably expect a user hostile 11“-12” crapplet they’ll try to push on a starved and desperate Apple customer who has no options.

Well, not all had/have problems with 11.6 MBA's. I have 13's MBP a 15 MBP two 13 MBA's and four 11.6 MBA's. I LOVE my 11.6 MBA's. That's why I bought up as many high end 11's I could find. I'm not the only one.

Sorry but you are in fact a very rare exception. Of all the folks who got the 11” MBA only a few hundred were completely satisfied. The rest were disappointed to various degrees. In fact it’s funny we’re talking about this, because just two days ago I facetimed with an old friend in Italy and he mentioned how the 11” was one of his rare “bad” purchases which he regrets. He also mentioned how he doesn’t know anyone who was happy with their 11”. Neither do I.

I know it’s anecdotal, but I find it very compelling.

But will Apple create a new MB that is only slightly different from the promoted iPP with a magic keyboard?

Some say there is no room for an MBA in the MB and MBP options. Or maybe just MBA will remain, and there is no room for MB, because there is iPP ...
