Could force touch finally spell the end of the home button?

Keep in mind that the post you're responding to was made before 3D touch existed and at a time when "Hey Siri" only worked while plugged into power and therefore was not being used as ubiquitously. As far as the future of the home button, I'm interested to see where it goes. I agree that it may not be gone entirely this generation, but who knows? It seems necessary for a major redesign at this point. But essentially the entire screen would need to be capable of being a TouchID sensor in order to get rid of it.
