You really need to look up what the word "trolling" means in modern context. Also, while you're at it, learn how to post a question to a forum.
I guess this only proves "WIT" is a podunk school. When you get back, inform them that just adding "Institute of Technology" to their name doesn't make them Caltech or MIT (despite being in Boston.) Maybe they figure if their students say it really fast, people will think they said MIT.
You really need to learn what a troll is; since the whole second paragraph you said is nothing but trolling.
To others, I said I am not an Architecture student; so I don't care if they are a good choice for the students or not. That said, AutoCAD is very very expensive, and students that took the course previously
DID NOT BUY THE PROGRAM TO USE ON THEIR PERSONAL SCHOOL MACHINES! They used AutoCAD in the labs, and this is how it will still work. There are enough PCs located around campus for every student to use, so if they need AutoCAD they can do what every student in the history of the school did, use the lab's computers. However, there are not many Macs at the school but there is a lot of Mac software they use. Since there are many architecture students that need to use Macs daily it makes sense for them to have Apple laptops. They can't just put more Macs in the labs since there is no room, and other majors need the PCs.
Thats about all I can say about them choosing Macs; and I would rather get back on topic here.
I'll state the question again. At the very beginning of the year, or late last year, Apple was expecting to have G5 powerbooks ready to ship this year. This did not happen obviously.
I am looking into getting a powerbook, but there is nothing specific I would use it for that my PC laptop can't do. My current laptop launches the browser I use faster then the one I would use on a Powerbook. It launches the mail client I use faster then the one I would use on the Mac. I don't care about benchmarks or that I am using different programs on each platform since what it comes down to is what I will be doing. I want a Mac becuase I am a big Linux person when I am not playing a game or programming for Windows; so the BSD kernel plus all the cool Apple stuff (not to mention the very nice GUI) is why I want a Mac. The fastest 15 inch Powerbook costs $900 more then what I paid for my PC laptop and it does *MY* common tasks slower.
Since my school was expecting them, I am wondering if anyone thinks that "not this year" could be taken literally and mabye we will see them as early as January? I am just trying to see when people think they will be out and if it will be worth waiting or if I should get a G4 and just deal with it being slower.
For those that have stayed on topic and have been civil, thanks.
