I'm running a 2 Year Old - Intel Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz MacBook Pro on Snow Leopard. Debating whether or not to take the plunge to Mountain Lion? Suggestions? I know my machine supports the update, but I don't want it to be slow. Is this OS made to optimize on the newest Macs?

If youre on the same MBP(signature) as me, I'll be installing and updating tomorrow morning. If you can wait, i'll report back or maybe other users will report back. If not, backup and try.

Whatever you do, do a CLEAN install, not an upgrade. Otherwise it'll be a mess.

I upgraded my 2010 imac last night and it seems to be a lot more speedy that When I did the lion upgrade. Only downside is that it seems to hate Skype and keeps freezing/crashing. Other than that no problems yet :)

It actually did slow down my 2010 MBA (2.13GHZ C2D).
iTunes jumps twice to three times to open when in SL and lion was once.
Also, skype, jumps 5 or 6 times when it was 3 - 4.
Obviously, this is not enough proof to say it slowed down, but I can definitely feel it.
It is not as smooth as I expected.
