I just could not wait, my old iMac( late 2009) hard drive was dying a slow death, so I went with a late 2015 5K 27 inch i7 32 gig ram and 3 TB fusion drive iMac.....so far everything is great, except that ridiculous iSight camera..I expected better even for 720p, horrid...otherwise...very please....I just could not wait for a re-fresh at this point....I hope I don't regret it : )

They're still great machines and very capable. If you're really worried about an iMac refresh, you can return your current one and change the HDD in your old iMac for a small SSD to keep her chugging along & improve performance until the refresh.

Otherwise you should be very happy with your purchase! New tech will always be released, so buy what you need when you need it.

I did the same thing a couple weeks ago. Same model, refurb, i7, 3TB, 395x, 32G....love it, machines a beast. I was also concerned about losing the SD card slot and legacy ports on next gen. Im resistant to change and this thing crushes FCPX and WoW all day long. Like other posters say, youre behind the tech-curve the day you purchase any new computer.

I think it would have been worth waiting a couple of months but the current model is more than capable for most tasks. The noticeable improvements with the next gen would be the new GPUs and TB3 (if there is no redesign).

Replacing ports on a desktop with TB3 really doesn't matter since it is a much more versatile port and the computer is stationary. Especially for the SD card slot, i would prefer to have it at the front (using an adapter) than have it at the back.

I'll be picking one up prolly towards end of march - that'll be about as long as I can hold out for.

For some reason my gut feel is there won't be a new one released before then but if I get applecare and lasts me at least 3 years I'll be happy with that.
