I'm hoping for something more - if this is truly iOS 5 then I don't understand all the hype.

I understand. Apple creates and lives on hype. Its what floats their boat :)

I never claimed there was a big UI overhaul to be expected - I'm just expressing that Apple has been hyping iOS 5 and if the changes are minor (as with Snow Leopard which was a disappointment) then I'll be disappointed.

Ah, okay then. I guess I misunderstood what you were saying. My bad.

The lens in the camera icon is off center.

Update: And so is the notification.

Could that be because of the angle the picture was taken at that's causing it to look off-centre? If someone could try to replicate the angle of this picture, then we could compare it to the original (I do not have an iPhone 4, so I cannot try it).

I'm a bit confused by the Twitter icon. That isn't the normal app icon, so I don't think this is from the new notification system unless every app is going to have a special icon for the notifications. I think this is an image of the rumored Twitter integration.

Or it could be a combination of both. Maybe Twitter gets it's own special icon in notifications because it is integrated?

I certainly hope the extent of the Twitter integration goes beyond a simple notification bar.

I posted this in another topic that its been in the news recently that FourSquares's Co-founder Dennis Crowley has checked-in at Apple's HQ in Cupertino, so I think that tomorrow Twitter may not be the only Social Network that will be integrated into the OS.

Twitter for Networking, Sharing Photos and Videos
Foursquare for Checking-in, seeing who's close to you.

This is totally plausible. Think about it: it's something we already know how to use, it's pretty informative, and it's extremely unintrusive. Classic Apple thought process.

I think this is legit, or at least very close to something we'll see tomorrow. I'm wondering though, if this is indeed real, how the bar will interact with full-screen applications like games. Maybe we'll see truly useful pop-ups this time around.

Since I personally do not use Foursquare, that integration would be absolutely useless for me. Only Twitter integration will be useful to me. However I know that there are some people that use Foursquare and would find the integration very useful. But this sure is an odd thing. It adds more to the mystery of WWDC. I love these last minute things that always surface before events.

I agree. It sure makes it fun to speculate like this :)

I assume that when that App is on the home screen, it would say something more than "Camera".
I hope its real:D:D

Unless it's jailbroken and then they could change the name. Even more they could have just changed the icon.

No one said it was gonna be a big UI overall, people just assumed that. Think of it like the update from Mac OSX Leopard to Snow Leopard: small cosmetic changes here and there, but most of the changes were under the hood. This is how I've been expecting IOS 5 to be the entire time. I never got the sense that there would be drastic changes (besides the notification system getting completely replaced).

I completely agree however, I would like to see some UI changes. While it does work great I'm getting kind of bored with the look and the grid style screens.

My jailbreak has a similar icon to that for the camera...

Would be in keeping with the task bar in Mac OSX ... mono-icons rather than colour ... i'd like it to be real ... could easily create that extra line in the display by reshuffling icons (making a couple of pixels smaller) .... and a rotating bar of current notifications would be nice and subtle
