I purchased a domain a couple of months ago in preparation for this feature to come out.

My plan is to completely get rid of my iCloud email account and start again with a new one. I get a lot of spam under this address, and want the privacy and security of a custom domain and hide my email.

First hurdle I found is it's not possible to disable an iCloud email address without deleting the entire account; this does not work for me because I have purchases, iCloud data etc on this account, and I want to disable it as an email address beacause I get a lot of spam. Setting up a custom domain wouldn't help because it would just forward everything to this account.

So I created a new Apple ID, and added it to my family share. The issue I'm having now, is I can't login to this email account on my iPhone. Whenever I try to login, it just doesn't work. No errors or anything, via adding the account under mail > accounts. I want to be able to test whether I can still use hide my email, despite it not being the main account.

I'm thinking this is unlikely, and could use some help on the best way to solve this issue.

Mate, there is a much easier way... Just forget about the new AID idea, configure all your stuff with your current AID and in mail, configure a rule that would delete/archive all email sent to that email address you want to get rid of.
