Could you take an iphone 3G back to get a 3GS?

hello, a friend of mine got an iPhone 3G a few days ago from AT&T, w/ a 2 yr ball'n'chain.

After talking to him about the spec boosts in the 3GS, he wants to go back and trade in the 3G for a 3GS for 100 bucks more, would they let him?

Yes he has 14 days to do so. I did the exact same thing back in July on the 14th day after playing with my neighbor's 3GS.
