So I tried to uninstall Java from my mac. So I went to the oracle site.

http://www.java.com/en/download/help/mac_uninstall_java.xml

I couldn't find the file "JavaAppletPlugin.plugin" so I opted for the terminal code. Now all that is left is the "system preferences" icon with a Java label under system preferences. I cannot find any files pertaining to Java. I am probably missing something.

Please help....

Thanks. :)

All that is needed to uninstall Java 7 is removing that plugin.

Check to see if it is actually gone.
Open your hard drive, and double-click the Library folder.
Then double-click the Internet Plug-Ins folder.
If you see JavaAppletPlugin.plugin, drag that to the trash, then empty the trash.
If you DON'T see that plugin, then it's gone. That's all you need to do.
Restart your Mac, and the Java control panel should be gone.
It's part of the plugin, so when you remove THAT plugin, the control panel goes with it.

Thank you so much for the swift reply. I suppose other people had the same issue. As I was waiting and hoping I didn't do anything reckless to my mac, I decided to reinstall Java 7 and restart the whole process. I then proceeded to go through the steps you mentioned. Java is now gone and I couldn't be happier. Thank you so much!
